Overview
As a point-to-point
connection, Fujitsu SAS drives help enterprises keep costs lower and
maintain flexibility. The 2.5-inch hard disk drives offer up to 73.5GB of
storage and 10K RPM - a perfect combination for high-end, mission-critical
applications residing on database servers, storage arrays, and NAS and SAN
systems.
With the 2.5-inch
form-factor, a greater number of SAS drives can be installed in the space
previously occupied by conventional 3.5-inch enterprise hard disk drives,
resulting in improved input-output (IO) performance. Additionally, lower
power consumption helps systems maintain reduced heat levels. The drives
are also hot pluggable, so they can be inserted or removed without harming
the data or the system while the entire system is still powered on.
The 3Gb SAS interface
of the Fujitsu hard disk drives allows customers to take advantage of the
increased performance associated with serial attached SCSI, while
providing lower heat dissipation and lower acoustics.

Drive Features
- Small Form
Factor HDD: The adoption of 2.5" form factor to
enterprise HDD, the required space is reduced up to 73% in comparison
with previous 3.5" form factor enterprise HDD. This enables the
installation of more number of HDDs into same area space.
- High
Performance: It is possible to install more number of HDD in
comparison with 3.5" HDD in same space, IO performance (*1) is
improved under the system configuration.
- High Speed
Interface: Serial Attached SCSI which is the New serial
interface enables the High Speed Interface capability up to 3Gbits per
second.
- Low Power
Consumption: Power consumption requirement has reduced to 4.5
Watts (Idle). It achieves up to 53% lower power consumption in
comparison with 3.5" HDD. (The comparison with Fujitsu products)
- Improvement for
Shock Tolerance: FDB (Fluid Dynamic Bearing) spindle motor
(*2) and Head Load/Unload mechanism (*3) enable in high shock
torelance. The drives withstand up to 400Go-p (duration 1ms)
non-operating shock and up to 100Go-p (duration 1ms) operating shock.
- RoHS Compliance
(MAY series only): This HDD is designed to meet the
requirements of the European Union's RoHS directive.
Notes:
*1: The IO through put performance of System
*2: The spindle motor which use the oil for the rotational bearing to
rotate the disk.
*3: The mechanism to unload the heads to outside of media to eliminate
the interference between heads and media.
