The SA-4200 controller has two major differences over previous generations of mainstream Smart Array products:

1. Four channels providing these customer benefits:
    
   • Higher performance - 320 MB/s parallel SCSI bandwidth.
   • Higher capacity than other PCI storage solution available on the market - Four SCSI channels with (14) 18.2 GB drives per channel externally = 1.16 TB of external storage in 12U vertical rack space.
      
2. New I/O architecture is benchmarked at up to 4x the current I/O bandwidth of the award winning SA-3200 controller.

The SA-4200 will be targeted at ProLiant (Intel) servers, particularly the ProLiant 3000- to ProLiant 7000-class and 8-way servers where a greater level of performance and capacity is required (or in any ProLiant server where performance and capacity growth are issues).

This product is a perfect companion to the new Compaq StorageWorks Enclosure 4200. Supporting up to (14) 1" Ultra2 SCSI disk drives in each enclosure, this storage solution becomes the highest total capacity solution available in the market today.
